Members of the Old Mission Kiwanis Club joined more than 3,000 other supporters of the Autism Alliance of Greater Kansas City at Kauffman Stadium Saturday, September 4 for the second annual Kansas City Royals 5K Run/Walk. Most participating Kiwanians opted for the One Mile Autism Awareness Walk around Kauffman Stadium rather than the 5K event. The Autism Alliance of Greater Kansas City is a bi-state community organization comprised of dedicated individuals committed to the development of a network of resources targeted toward fostering an informed community that facilitates the independence, acceptance, and emotional well-being of individuals with autism spectrum disorders throughout their entire life span. The Alliance strives to be a collective voice for the Kansas City autism community by implementing programs and events which will aid families while increasing public awareness and acceptance of individuals with autism spectrum disorders. This united group believes that information is the most powerful tool for living with autism spectrum disorders. Kiwanis is pleased to support this local community service.
